Clinical trials for bioequivalence are conducted through the participation of healthy volunteers. In the course of these studies two drug products containing one and the same active substance are compared. Most often one of the two products is familiar to the medical therapy. The other one contains the same active substance as the first one, but it is manufactured by another pharmaceutical company. These trials cut down the expenditures of pharmaceutical companies for putting drug products on the market, whereby their price goes down and patients’ access to drugs increases.

The Bioequivalence Research Sector is an expressly separated structure at Tokuda Hospital Sofia AD which offers four rooms with four beds each, a laboratory, a treatment room, a room for the research team, a room for the medical team and a place providing food to the participants in the tral. Their comfort is assured not only by the continued care of the medical team, but the wireless Internet and CTV provided.
