Prof. Vladimir Dimov - Department chief minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgery

Professor Dimov graduated from the Sveti Kiril and Metodi Medical University in Skopje, Macedonia in 1981, and has earned specializations in general surgery and abdominal surgery. In 1997, he successfully defended his doctoral thesis, “Clinical assessment of prognosis factors in the development of necrotizing pancreatitis”, and received his doctorate degree from the Sveti Kiril and Metodi Medical University in Skopje.

In 1986, he was a junior resident in the general surgery department of the Medical Faculty in Skopje, and in 1988 became was promoted to resident. In 1997, he became assistant professor, and in 2002 he was promoted to the position of professor of general surgery of the Medical Faculty in Skopje.

  • From 1989 to 1993, he was the chief of the operation sector of the surgery clinic.
  • From 1993 to 1995, he was the laparoscopic surgery department chief.
  • From 1995 to 1997, he was the chief of department "A" of the abdominal surgery clinic of the Medical Faculty in Skopje.
  • From 1997 to 1998, he was the director of the abdominal surgery clinic of the Medical Faculty in Skopje.
  • From 2001 to 2004, he was deputy director of the Skopje medical center and the director of the surgical clinic of the Medical Faculty in Skopje.
  • From 2006 to 2007, he was served as a guest professor of surgery at the Faculty of Medicine in the Istanbul University.

Professor Dimov has completed the following post graduate medical training and qualification courses: 

  • Treatment of acute and chronic pancreatitis and the treatment of advanced pancreatic diseases under the mentorship of Prof. Hans Berger, Ulm, Germany
  • Open Packing Laparostomy, Salzburg, Austria
  • Treatment of malignant diseases of the esophagus and upper gastrointestinal tract, taught by Professor Gerzik in the Belgrade Medical Center
  • Mechanical surgical suturing training at the Johnson & Johnson Training Center located in Cincinnati, USA
  • Advanced laparoscopic surgery training held in Hamburg, Germany
  • PPH (bloodless) treatment of tumors held in Venice, Italy
  • Modern treatment of malignant diseases of the abdominal organs, Rome, Italy

Professor Dimov completed a year of training in the Medical Faculty of the University of Chicago in the following areas:

  • Reconstructive surgery and resection of liver and pancreas
  • Treatment of ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s Disease
  • Laparoscopic surgery training

After completing his studies at the University of Chicago, Prof. Dimov has become a guest professor and a scientific research associate of the university.

Prof. Dimov has numerous scientific publications and regularly participates in international scientific forums. He is a member of the Macedonian Surgical Association, and an esteemed member of the Bulgarian Surgical Association. Professor Dimov is the vice-chairman of the EAcSS (European Academy of Surgical Sciences) and the vice-chairman of MTCC (Mediterranean Task Force for Cancer Control). 

 

Head Nurse Daniela Angelova

Head Nurse Angelova graduated from the Medical College of the Sofia Medical University in 1992. In 2001, she acquired a bachelor’s degree in nursing and health care services from the Sofia Medical University. In 2007, she earned a master’s degree in public health from the Varna Medical University. In 1992, nurse Angelova began working in the Military Medical Academy in the intensive therapy clinic, and in 1996, she joined the emergency therapy clinic of the academy. In the period between December 2007 and March 2008, she served as an anesthesiology nurse in the French field hospital which is a part of the NATO contingent Base Warehouse in Kabul, Afghanistan. She has been a member of our hospital since September 2008.
